Call of the Spirit Publications

I had a pretty special encounter with the Lord one night at a revival meeting where my dad took us to church. I say took us, because it was against our will to go. Looking back, I was probably born-again at that time. A lot of boo-hooing at the altar which carried over to our bathroom at home. But the lack of spiritual development and follow-up led to a life of sin which carried me far away from the things of God.

Thank God for a praying dad! His prayers kept Jesus on my case. Sometimes at night, while I was in bed, the Lord would manifest Himself to me with the same question: Mike, when are you going to serve Me? When I say manifest I don’t mean that He appeared to me, I mean that His Presence was so strong that I just knew if I were to reach out my arm from my bed I would touch Him! [Let that encourage you parents to keep praying for your children!]

These visitations were in the latter years of my teens, when I was really far from God and thought I just wanted to go through my party life-style before I gave up everything by coming to Jesus. How deceived I was! I now know that the drugs and alcohol I put in my body were nothing more than a carnal means to try to quench the craving FOR God I have (and believe every human being is born with!).

After sixteen months of being in a failing marriage, I came to the end of myself and called out to God to save me. It was Sunday, October 16, 1983. I was sitting in the back seat of my parents car. We were leaving the cider mill and I asked my mom and dad what time their church service was that night. I never prayed a prayer, my heart had simply turned to the Lord (see 2 Corinthians 3:16).

That night the pastor gave an alter-call. He had the people, who were willing, to form an archway at the front of the church (facing each other with their arms raised toward each other). The invitation was for anybody wanting a touch from God to pass through as the others prayed. I went through twice! The following Sunday morning in the Sunday-school class I got baptized with the Holy Ghost!! Immediately I began my journey with God studying things pertaining to and of the Holy Ghost. This book is a partial result of that study.
